Stamping out illicit drugs and substances in the Joint Operations Area (JOA), troops of 3 Division/Joint Task Force Operation ENDURING PEACE (JTF OPEP) has raided the hideout of suspected criminal elements at Layin Sabon Kasuwa in Mangu Local Government Area (LGA) of Plateau State.
During the operation, troops arrested 25 suspected drug peddlers in possession of various substance suspected to be Cannabis Sativa and other illicit drugs and substances
Noting that the illicit drugs and substances often drive violent activities, a statement by Major Samson Nantip Zhakom, Media Information Officer, JTF Operation ENDURING PEACE, and made available to Security Watch Africa (SWA), said the arrested suspects and recovered items are in custody and would be handed over to relevant agencies for possible prosecution in due course.
It added “Troops of 3 Division/JTF OPEP will continue to address identified crimes that drive violent activities in the JOA, just as the Command partners with relevant agencies of government to tackle these social vices and prosecute offenders to achieve a sane society.”
