The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has recorded another major breakthrough in its fight against violent crime as it busted a notorious armed robbery and murder syndicate responsible for multiple violent crimes within the FCT and its environs.
This was achieved through a series of well-coordinated operations carried out between 3rd and 19th September, 2025.
A statement by SP Josephine Adeh, Police Public Relations Officer, FCT Police Command, and made available to Security Watch Africa (SWA), said that the operatives successfully apprehended members of the notorious armed robbery syndicate.
It said “The suspects were arrested at Kagini, FCT, and Madalla, Niger State.
“They include: Ibrahim Shaibu a.k.a. Baba Godes (M), 28 years, from Zaria, Kaduna State, Yusuf Salihu (M), 40 years, from Kagini, FCT, Awulu Nuhu a.k.a. Zabi (M), 25 years, from Keita LGA, Katsina State, Usman Yerima a.k.a. Dangrugru (M), 28 years, from Jimeta LGA, Adamawa State.
“The operation led to the recovery of Two (2) English pistols, Forty-nine (49) rounds of 9mm live ammunition, One (1) gray Toyota Corolla (2012 model), Ten (10) Android phones suspected to have been stolen from victims.”
During interrogation, the statement said that the suspects confessed to their involvement in several violent crimes, including the armed robbery of Umar Y. Gowa at Hillside Estate, Dawaki, and the attack on Volcano Peak Court Hotel, Gwarinpa, where guests were robbed and Bashir Dauda, popularly known as DJ Bash, was fatally shot.
It disclosed that investigations further revealed that the syndicate had been terrorising residents of Gwarinpa and Dawaki, where they carried out violent attacks on unsuspecting members of the public.
“This was corroborated by CCTV footage that captured one of their attacks on an innocent resident, further exposing the gang’s ruthless modus operandi.
“The suspects also provided useful information on other gang members currently at large. Efforts are ongoing to track down and apprehend the fleeing members of the syndicate.”
The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Ajao S. Adewale, commended the Scorpion Squad and other operatives for their professionalism, courage, and resilience in dismantling the deadly network.
He reassured residents of the Command’s unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property and urged the public to remain vigilant and continue to support the police with credible information.
“For distress or emergency, residents are encouraged to call the Command’s emergency lines: 08032003913, 08061581938.” the statement concluded.
