Comparing the situations on ground at the beginning of this administration and the current realities, the Nigerian Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari, has declared that President Bola Tinubu is the brain behind the successes achieved so far in Agriculture and Food Security.
Besides changing the name of the Ministry from the onset, he said that the President backed up the Ministry in the various measures taken that resulted in the prices of food items crashing by 50%.

He spoke in Abuja when the Chief Executive Officer of Security Watch Africa Initiative (SWAI) Network, Mr. Patrick Agbambu, led a team to his office.
According to the Minister, President Tinubu has shown commitment to his desire not to have any Nigerian go to bed hungry.
Kyari said “And when he rolled out his eight point agenda, number one was food security. So that gave us that strength that he is committed to ensuring that no Nigerian goes to bed hungry.
“Before then, everything was hunger, hunger, hunger and prices of goods were going up.
“By and large, we have seen what we have done. Food prices have crashed below 50%.
“Our average farmer holding is 60% overhead and about 89% of our farmers are small holder farmers.” the Minister noted.

Speaking earlier, Mr. Agbambu informed him of his nomination for award by the SWAI at the forthcoming 19th Africa Security Conference & Awards billed for Morocco, in May 2026.
The Minister, he said, was selected for the award based on his impact on food and security, as he has shown passion and commitment in making food available to large number of Nigerians.
Mr. Agbambu also disclosed that the Minister is expected to deliver keynote address at the event in Morocco on how to ensure that Africans don’t go hungry.
He noted that the Minister’s interventions, although with the backing of President Tinubu, will go a long way in addressing the hunger situation in Africa.
He also informed the Minister that since 2004, the Conference and Awards started in Abuja to encourage and appreciate those protecting nations and creating a forum to discuss what affect African lives.
The event, he said has not only happened in Nigeria, but across the globe.
