The Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) FCT Council has honoured the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 2 Command, AIG Moshood Olohundare Jimoh, with the Crime Fighter of the Year award in recognition of his intelligence-led policing strategy and contributions to crime reduction in Lagos and Ogun States.

The honour was conferred during the Annual Press Week of the NUJ Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Council which was graced by the President NUJ, Comrade Alhassan Yahaya Abdul and the immediate past President, Chief Chris Isiguzo in Abuja.
The award came few months after AIG Jimoh was named the 2025 Security Officer of the Year at the Security and Emergency Management Awards (SAEMA), further underscoring growing recognition of his policing approach focused on intelligence gathering, surveillance operations, and rapid-response security interventions.
Jimoh, who previously served as Commissioner of Police in Lagos State before his elevation as AIG overseeing Lagos and Ogun States, was recognised for spearheading operations that targeted violent crimes and strengthened community-oriented policing across the region.
Speaking on behalf of the award recipients, AIG Jimoh described journalists as critical partners in nation-building, security management and public accountability.
“The media remains the mirror that reflects our activities. Journalists are not enemies when they publish critical reports. Constructive criticism often serves as a wake-up call for institutions and public officers,” he said.

Jimoh, who also served as Police Public Relations Officer in the FCT and later as Force Public Relations Officer, noted that his longstanding relationship with the NUJ FCT Council significantly shaped his career in policing and public communication
He reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force under the leadership of Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, to community-oriented and people-centred policing.
He also commended the NUJ FCT Council for what he described as its patriotism, professionalism and sustained support for the Nigeria Police Force.

According to him, the Police will continue to rely on the media as a strategic bridge between law enforcement agencies and the public in promoting effective policing and public trust.
