In a sorrow mood, the Executive Secretary of The Lake Chad Basin Commission (LCBC) and the Head of Mission, Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF), Ambassador Mamman Nuhu on behalf of LCBC and MNJTF has expressed a heartfelt condolence to the Government and people of Nigeria, as well as to the family of the late former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria His Excellency Muhammadu Buhari.
He described late former President Buhari as a visionary leader whose unwavering commitment to regional integration, security, and development left an indelible mark on the Lake Chad Basin region.
This was contained in a statement by Lieutenant Colonel Olaniyi Osoba, Chief Military Public information Officer Army, MNJTF, and made available to Security Watch Africa (SWA).
According to Ambassador Nuhu, President Buhari’s steadfast support was pivotal in revitalizing the MNJTF, strengthening the collective fight against Boko Haram and other terrorist threats and fostering peace and stability for the people of the region.
The Executive Secretary, LCBC noted that former President Buhari’s advocacy for the revitalization of Lake Chad and his call for international solidarity underscored his dedication to improving livelihoods and building a resilient future for the Lake Chad Basin’s communities.
He said that former President Buhari was a statesman whose legacy of leadership and peacebuilding will continue to inspire Nigeria and the entire region.
He further asserted that the late former president’s contributions to regional cooperation and security will remain a cornerstone of a shared progress
Ambassador Nuhu said In this moment of grief, the LCBC and MNJTF join the people of Nigeria in honoring the memory of a distinguished leader. He prayed that Almighty Allah (SWT) forgives his shortcomings, accepts his good deeds, and grants him eternal rest in Aljannatul Firdausi.
