The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa, on Saturday received a delegation of members of the National Assembly from Katsina State at the Defence Headquarters, Abuja.
The delegation was led by Senator Abdulazeez Musa Yar’Adua, Chairman, Senate Committee on Army.
During the visit, the lawmakers commended the Armed Forces of Nigeria for its sacrifice and commitment towards the provision of security in Katsina State and the country at large.
They also paid glowing tribute to the gallant troops who made the ultimate sacrifice in the fight to defend Nigeria, describing their contribution as heroic and invaluable.
A statement by Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, Director Defence Information, and made available to Security Watch Africa (SWA), said that the delegation briefed the CDS on the security situation in Katsina with a call for additional deployment of troops and military assets to address the emerging security threats in the State.
In his response, General Musa warmly welcomed the legislators and appreciated their support for the Armed Forces.
He assured them of continued partnership with the National Assembly to strengthen security operations nationwide.
The CDS also revealed that the military has deployed newer tactics and strategies to address evolving security challenges, with the ultimate goal of restoring peace and stability across Nigeria.
The visit, the statement said, underscored the shared commitment of the Armed Forces of Nigeria and the National Assembly to safeguarding the nation and protecting citizens from all forms of insecurity.
