The CP-Special Assignment Team ( CP-SAT ) led by ASP Julius Robinson has arrested suspected kidnappers, and recovered one AK-47 Rifle, two Pump-Action Guns in Delta State.
Also, operatives of the Delta State Police Command’s Rapid Response Squad (RRS) arrested suspected Cultists and recovered one Beretta Pistol and Cultists’ Regalia.
These were contained in a statement by SP. Edafe Bright, Police Public Relations Officer, Delta State Command. It was made available to Security Watch Africa (SWA).
For the first case, the statement said “Acting on credible intelligence on the activities of some suspected kidnappers in Ogwashi-Uku, Ubuluku and Issele-Uku, on 27/07/2025 at about 0120hrs, operatives of CP-Special Assignment Team ( CP-SAT ) led by ASP Julius Robinson in a combined effort with operatives from the Command’s X-Squad and Buffallo Patrol Teams stormed a suspected criminal hideout along Ibusa Road and effected the arrest of a notorious suspected kidnapper, known as Chiadiji Collins AKA “Smooth” ‘M’ 42yrs.”
The suspect, who was said to have been on the Command’s watchlist for a series of kidnapping activities within Ibusa / Ogwashi-Uku and Asaba axis, also led operatives to his residence at Ewulu community in Aniocha South Local Government Area (LGA), Delta State where a search warrant was executed during which one AK-47 rifle, forty (40) rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition were recovered.
Preliminary investigation, it said, also led to the arrest of one Ezechie Andrew of the same community in whose possession two (2) pump action guns and two (2) live cartridges were recovered.
“Both suspects are gang members suspected to be involved in a series of kidnappings in Ogwashi-Uku, Issele-Uku and other parts of Delta State. They are in custody and the investigation is ongoing.” the statement stated.
On the second case of cultism, it said “On 30th of July 2025 at about 0630hrs, operatives of the Command’s Rapid Response Squad (RRS) while acting on credible information stormed a criminal hideout at Big Gate, Campus iii, Abraka where one Benjamin Okwufulueze 21yrs, Augustine Ifeanyi 22yrs, and Iruma Japheth 27yrs, were arrested and one fabricated beretta pistol with four live ammunition were recovered.
“Also recovered were one black cap with Eiye inscription and one battle axe. Suspects confessed to being members of Eiye confraternity. They are all in custody and the investigation is ongoing.”
The Commissioner of Police, Delta State, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, according to the statement, has urged parents and guardians to discourage their children and wards from all forms of criminality and cult related activities and also advises members of the public to contact the Police and report any suspicious persons or movements in their environment.
