The Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, has reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to sustaining the ongoing onslaught against unrepentant criminals, including those involved in violent crimes.
This followed the arrest of one Chinweuba Edeh, aged 42, for allegedly robbing a Point of Sale (POS) operator of the sum of ₦70,000.00 on 17th October, 2025, at about 6:40 a.m.
The suspect was arrested the same day by Police Operatives serving in Nkanu West (Agbani) Police Division, following a swift response to a distress call from a female victim, who reported that the suspect robbed her at gunpoint at Oriemba Akpugo Market, Nkanu West LGA.
According to a statement made available to Security Watch Africa (SWA) by SP Daniel Ndukwe, Police Public Relations Officer, Enugu State Command, a locally made double-barrelled pistol loaded with two live cartridges was recovered from the suspect.
“The suspect will be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of investigations,” it added.
The Commissioner of Police urged citizens to remain law-abiding, vigilant, and promptly report suspected criminals and their activities to the nearest Police Station.
Alternatively, he urged them to call the Command’s emergency hotlines 08032003702 or 08086671202, and the Enugu State Command-and-Control Centre on 112, 09134666668, or 09134448093.
