Enugu, Nigeria – The Enugu State Police Command has sustained its intelligence-led offensive against violent crimes, arresting five suspects and recovering three firearms, six rounds of ammunition and other burglary tools in four separate operations across the State.
SP Daniel Ndukwe, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Enugu Command, stated that on October 7, 2026, at about 5:10 a.m., operatives attached to Inyi Division, responding to a distress call over an armed robbery at Umuaor, Umukabia Isiama Awlaw Community, Oji-River Local Government Area (LGA), arrested one Arinze Osita Onwuaso, 26, while his gang members escaped.

Recovered from him were one locally made cut-to-size single-barrel gun, two live cartridges, a pry-bar, hammer, scissors and chisel.
Similarly, on October 5, 2026, operatives of the Nsukka Sector, Anti-Cultism Section of the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU), acting on credible intelligence, raided Umudioka Community, Nsukka and arrested two suspected cultists: Jonas Adejo a.k.a J-Money, 24, and Okoro Innocent a.k.a Virus, 25.
Three live rounds of 9mm ammunition were recovered from them. Police said the suspects confessed to membership of the Supreme Vikings Confraternity.
In another operation on September 25, 2026, operatives of Aninri Division, in collaboration with Neighborhood Watch Group members, raided a criminal hideout at Amagu Mpu Community, Aninri LGA, and arrested Anichebe Ogbonna, 25. One locally made pistol was recovered.
Also, on September 18, 2026, at about 11:00 p.m., operatives of 9th Mile Division, with Neighborhood Watch support, arrested Chukwujekwu Chukwuemeka, 38, at Ameke-Ngwo, Udi LGA, for alleged armed robberies in the area. One cut-to-size pump-action gun and one live cartridge were recovered.

Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, commended operatives for prompt response and citizens for credible information, reiterating the Command’s resolve to sustain intelligence-led operations against armed robbery, cultism and other violent crimes.
Police said investigations are ongoing and suspects will be arraigned upon conclusion.
