Abuja, Nigeria – The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, received the Chief of the Air Staff, Nigerian Air Force, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, at the Force Headquarters, Abuja, in a move aimed at deepening inter-agency collaboration to tackle Nigeria’s evolving security threats.
Force Public Relations Officer, Force Headquarters, CSP Ani Iniedu, stated that the visit focused on strengthening the longstanding partnership between the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigerian Air Force, with emphasis on joint operations, intelligence sharing, and enhanced air support for police tactical missions.
Speaking during the meeting, Air Marshal Aneke commended the professional relationship between both services and acknowledged the critical support of the NPF Air Wing to NAF operations. He stressed the need for sustained collaboration in aerial surveillance, reconnaissance, tactical deployment, medical evacuation, and joint training to confront terrorism, banditry, insurgency and other violent crimes.
Responding, IGP Disu reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to deepening synergy with the NAF through intelligence-led operations, capacity building, and sustained operational support.
The IGP emphasised the importance of personnel welfare, effective command-and-control, and coordinated security planning, particularly ahead of major national events and the 2027 general elections. He also called for enhanced protection of critical national infrastructure, improved logistics and response capabilities, as well as regular reviews of joint operations to ensure maximum impact.
Key areas discussed included improved aerial support for police operations in volatile areas, real-time intelligence sharing, and harmonised deployment strategies to deny criminals safe havens across the country.
The NAF delegation included top officers: Chief of Training, AVM AY Dari; Chief of Operations, AVM PN Amadi; Chief of Air Intelligence, AVM NN Ananaba; Air Provost Marshal, AVM JI Ukeh; Chief of Administration, AVM AA Martins; Director of Operations, AVM AO Bamidele; Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame; PSO to CAS, Air Commodore HI Eze; and PSO Coordination, Group Captain FO Olanrewaju.
IGP Disu noted that the Nigeria Police Force remains committed to building a more integrated security architecture with sister agencies to protect lives, property and national assets.
The meeting ended with both leaders pledging to institutionalise regular joint planning and operational reviews.
