Doma, Nigeria – The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, on Friday, 9 October 2026, paid homage to the Andoma of Doma Kingdom, HRH Alhaji Dr. Ahmadu Aliyu Ogga Onawo, at his palace in Doma, Nasarawa State.

The visit, which is part of efforts to strengthen military-civil relations, is aimed at deepening collaboration between the Nigerian Army and traditional institutions in support of national security.
In a statement by the Acting Director Army Public Relations, Colonel Appolonia Anele, it stated that General Shaibu, was in Doma for the graduation ceremony of the elite Special Forces Battalion at the Nigerian Army Special Forces School, and he acknowledged the strategic role of traditional rulers and host communities in intelligence gathering, early warning, community trust-building and sustainable peace.
He expressed appreciation to the Andoma and the people of Doma Kingdom for their continued support and hospitality to the Nigerian Army, stressing that a whole-of-society approach remains critical to tackling contemporary security challenges.

In his response, the Andoma of Doma commended the COAS for his visionary leadership and for siting the Nigerian Army Special Forces School in the kingdom, describing it as a major contribution to the development of the area.


The monarch pledged the continued support of the traditional council and the people of Doma to the Nigerian Army and offered prayers for enduring peace, stability and security in Nigeria.
