Some operatives of the FCT Police Command attached to the Scorpion Squad, trailed and arrested two notorious car-snatching suspects.
They acted on credible digital intelligence between 19th and 21st August, 2025 and embarked on the operations.
The suspects, Solomon Fanen Manger ‘m’, 34, and Solomon Yande ‘m’, 45, both from Benue State, confessed to being long-time members of a syndicate specialised in the theft of high-value vehicles, particularly Toyota Prado SUVs and Toyota Hilux trucks.
In a statement by SP Josephine Adeh, Police Public Relations Officer, FCT Command, and made available to Security Watch Africa (SWA), they also admitted to operating mainly around Wuse, Garki, and the Central Area.
“Within August alone, their gang stole three (3) Toyota Prado SUVs, two (2) white Toyota Hilux vehicles, and one (1) black Toyota Camry, which they sold for between ₦7 million and ₦8 million each.
“They further revealed that their gang leader, one “Alhaji” (real name unknown), operates from the Niger Republic, where he receives and disposes of the stolen vehicles.”
The arrest, the statement said, led to the recovery of a stolen Toyota Hilux with registration number FCTA 13B100CT, their operational black Toyota Matrix with registration number ABC 85 NW, an electronic car jammer, and five (5) rounds of 7.62x39mm live ammunition.
In a similar incident, on 22nd August, 2025 at about 8:40 p.m., the statement further disclosed that operatives of Karu Division, while on routine surveillance patrol around NEPA Quarters, Karu, intercepted one Daniel Oguata ‘m’ of Kogi State while attempting to steal a Toyota Picnic vehicle with registration number RBC 322 JR.
“The suspect was arrested, and the exhibit recovered.
“All suspects are in custody and will be charged in court upon the conclusion of investigations,” it stated.
The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Ajao S. Adewale, has commended the officers for their diligence and reaffirmed the Command’s resolve to rid the FCT of violent criminals.
