Determined to end the activities of terrorists in the North West of Nigeria, the Theatre Commander (TC), Operation FANSAN YAMMA (OPFY), Major General Warrah Idris, has emphasised that no resources will be spared in the efforts to eradicate the menace.

According to him, the troops are not in the States covered by the operation to just suppress terrorism, but to bring an end to it.
He spoke during media tour of selected journalists to the zone. Security Watch Africa (SWA) was among them.

The TC said “I want to mention that our purpose and our mission here is not for us to suppress or reduce the activities of terrorists in the North Western region. Our purpose and mission here is a complete eradication of terrorism in the North Western region and the country-at-large.
“So we are going to spare no time, no resources will be spared in our efforts to achieve this.
“Resources, equipment, manpower, every single asset available to us will be geared towards achieving complete eradication of terrorism. It is our job. It is our duty. We have taken the oath for it, and we shall stand by it to the end.
“Your arrival here, coming to see what we are doing and appreciating what we are doing with the sole intent to convey it to the citizens and populous of the country, it’s a good deed, and it is something commendable.
“As we are warriors in the field, you are also greater warriors on the screen, on the print media as well. So we welcome you as fellow warriors,” he stated.
He charged the media team to try to improve what the troops are doing in the region through their various mediums.
“One of the major areas that we want you to look at is how to convey our successes to the population. This will definitely increase the confidence of the citizens on the ability of their military as such a confidence will definitely make the troops to be well motivated to act and to also do more in the opposite of bringing security to the Country.
“We also want you to work with us in combating false narratives. False narratives are dangerous to national security. False narratives are vehicles of confusion, and Nigeria, in this current state, does not need such narratives.
“So we implore you to work with us so that you pass on the truth to the populace. You convey it in a manner that is understandable to our citizens.”
The TC urged the media to also collaborate with the military by properly confirming their stories from media officers before publishing or going public with it.
“It is only through doing this that we can move the country forward, that we can reduce the issue of insecurity in the country.
“So your support is very much needed, and so far, very much appreciated. We want you to convey to all the citizens of the North West and the country at large, now we’re not sparing anything at working towards ensuring that security is brought back to the Northwest and to the country at large,” Major General Warrah Idris said.
