For allegedly murdering his 61-year-old mother at Glen Cowie Mochadi village in Limpopo Province, on Wednesday, 20 August 2025, a 38-year-old man is expected to appear before the Nebo Magistrate’s Court on Friday, 22 August 2025 after he was arrested.
This was contained in a statement issued by Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba of the South African Police Service
Office of the Provincial Commissioner Limpopo. It was made available to Security Watch Africa (SWA).
It said that the Police were called to the scene at about 10:00am, and upon arrival, discovered the lifeless body of the elderly woman lying in a pool of blood inside her house with multiple stab wounds.
Preliminary investigations, the statement added, revealed that the deceased had appeared at the Nebo Magistrate’s Court the previous day, Tuesday, 19 August 2025, where she had obtained a protection order against the suspect, who is her son.
“The order stated that the suspect should vacate the victim’s residence with effect from 1 September 2025. However, following further deliberations on Wednesday, it was decided that the suspect should leave the house immediately due to his troublesome behaviour, as he had been staying with the victim.
“It is alleged that the suspect fatally attacked his mother inside the house later that day. He was swiftly arrested by the Police and has since been charged with murder.”
The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, the statement said, has strongly condemned the heinous incident, describing it as a disturbing act of gender-based violence that has robbed a family of a mother in the most brutal manner.
