Enugu, Nigeria — The Enugu State Police Command has arrested a 30-year-old man, Ugbor Chika Paul, for alleged serial rape, robbery and sextortion of female victims.

The suspect was alleged to have lured female Point-of-Sale (POS) operators to secluded locations under the guise of carrying out transactions, where he robbed and sexually assaulted them.
He also allegedly used Facebook with the fake identity, Franklin Umeh, to lure victims.
According to the Command, a phone recovered from the suspect contains nude images and video clips of identified and unidentified victims.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Enugu State Command, SP Daniel Ndukwe, said the first victim, a 20-year-old POS operator at Akwata Market, Enugu, was lured to a bush behind St. Peter’s Church, Coal Camp, at about 11:00 a.m. on May 21, 2026, where she was allegedly robbed and raped, with N600,000 stolen from her.
The second victim, a 30-year-old POS operator at the same market, was similarly lured to the same location at about 5:00 p.m. on August 11, 2026, and robbed of N120,000 after unsuccessful attempts to rape her.
The third victim, aged 21, was allegedly lured through Facebook by the suspect posing as Franklin Umeh to Old Park, Enugu, at about 11:30 a.m. on October 4, 2026, before being taken to a bush around Udi Siding.
Ndukwe said the suspect allegedly raped and sexually assaulted her, recorded her nude, and robbed her of N100,000 and her phone.
He subsequently threatened to circulate the video unless she paid N200,000 and allegedly used her phone to contact some of her WhatsApp contacts.
The Command said investigations are ongoing and the suspect will be arraigned upon conclusion.
It urged other victims to come forward and assist investigation, while encouraging young women who have experienced cyberstalking or sextortion to report such incidents.

Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to protecting residents from sexual violence, robbery and other crimes, urging the public, particularly women and business operators, to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities promptly.
