Troops of 17 Brigade of the Nigerian Army on Monday stormed terrorists enclave in Ginchawa, Matazu Local Government Area (LGA) of Katsina State.

While 2 terrorists were neutralised and others managed to flee from the area, Security Watch Africa (SWA) gathered that arms, ammunition, motorcycles, cows and goats, among other items were recovered from the enclave.
“In the early hours of today 22 June 2026, troops of 17 Brigade on Operation CLEAN SWEEP III conducted an intelligence-led dawn raid operation at a suspected terrorists enclave at Ginchawa in Matazu LGA of Katsina State.
“Troops stormed the enclave and surprised the terrorists who attempted to fight back but were overwhelmed by troops superior firepower, forcing them to flee in disarray into the surrounding bushes.


“Troops engaged the terrorists in a hot pursuit along their withdrawal routes until contact was lost. Troops exploited the general area and captured 2 PKT machine guns, one dane gun, one AK 47 magazine, 75 rounds of 7.62mm (link) NATO, 3 motorcycles, 2 mobile phones and one Motorolla radio.
“Others are one pair of camouflage uniform, 2 cows and 4 goats. No casualty was sustained on own troops while 2 terrorists were neutralised during the operation while others escaped with possible gunshot wounds as traces of blood were seen within the enclaves.”
