The Akwa Ibom State Police Command, under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, has unveiled comprehensive security measures across the State.

The step was taken in line with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police to prevent and combat all forms of violent crimes.
This was disclosed in a statement by DSP Timfon John, Police Public Relations Officer, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom State Command. It was made available to Security Watch Africa (SWA).
It reads “As part of these measures, the Command has intensified intelligence-led policing, enhanced patrols, and strategically deployed personnel across all Local Government Areas.
“High-risk areas, including farmlands, forests, waterways, and major access routes, are now under continuous surveillance through coordinated day and night patrols.
“Special operations, including intelligence-based stop-and-search duties, have been emplaced at critical points to intercept criminal elements and prevent any form of security breach.
“Tactical units and patrol teams have also been repositioned to ensure maximum visibility and rapid response to emergencies.”
The Command, according to the statement, has further strengthened collaboration with sister security agencies, including the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Navy, Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA), Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and other relevant stakeholders to ensure seamless intelligence sharing and coordinated joint operations across the State.
In addition, aggressive community engagement and sensitisation campaigns are ongoing.
“Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant, report suspicious activities, and cooperate fully with security agencies. Traditional rulers, community leaders, religious bodies, and youth groups are urged to support ongoing efforts by providing credible and timely information.”
